Looking forward to rehearsal tonight

I thought I’d start putting down some of my thoughts about music, about Rustmonster, and about life. One of the things I look forward to most is playing with the boys. We rehearse every Wednesday night at 9PM. Rehearsal is a mix of music, jokes, and general fraternizing. It couldn’t be a more pleasant atmosphere.

We are currently rounding down on our 3rd album. It will be a continuation of the story on our second album, Flight of the Filthy Vicar. We are looking forward to finishing. Tonight, we plan to lay down a new song, The Ballad of Barnacle Backed Billy. This one was written by Mike Terrell, the guy who wrote Blood and Bone, and Still A’Smilin’. He’s a good writer. His new song is solid. I think people are going to like it.

Currently, we have recorded 6 of what we call minus tracks for our untitled, 3rd album. Minus tracks are songs that are incomplete. They are songs, minus the vocals, solos, horns, or some other part of the arrangement. We have 2 songs on deck: Barnacle Backed Billy, and a song written by Rick Nef, the sax player. The last 2 songs of the album haven’t been written yet, but Nate Peck, singer, aux percussion player, accordion player, and Larry Nybo, drummer, have ideas they want to flesh out.

Once we get these last 4 songs down, we will have our customary 10 songs plus 3 acts of story commentary. Boom, album 3 is born.
